In an interview with Press TV,
Ali Asghar Soltaniyeh, Iran's envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency
(IAEA), rejects media reports that Tehran was ready for nuclear talks with the
West 'without preconditions'.
Regarding reports broadcast by
Italy's AKI, I should clarify that I have had no interviews recently with this
news agency.
After we officially made request
to the UN for the inclusion of an agenda in the general conference of the IAEA
on the prevention of attacks on nuclear installations in the world, some news
agencies interviewed with me and I only made comments on that issue.
They asked whether there is any
change in Iran's nuclear policy following the recent developments. I repeated
again that there was no change in our nuclear policy; (that) we will continue
our nuclear activities for peaceful purposes, including enrichment, under the
IAEA safeguards; and that we will continue cooperating with the IAEA.
Answering the question regarding
our dealings and interaction with other countries in the world, I said our
principal position is having dialogue with all the countries in the world on all
the global issues and we do not have any change in our nuclear policy regarding
peaceful use of nuclear energy.
There have been no discussions on
whether we are ready to negotiate with Western countries or not.
Therefore, that issue was not
raised or discussed in the interview, but I should add that after releasing this
misleading news, I objected to this news agency's move and we noticed that they
had used some of the words from their archive interviews.
There has been no recent interview
on that issue or on possible negotiations. We have never done so and I have
always emphasized on dealing with the IAEA regarding our nuclear
activities.
